The workshop began with the Key Note speeches from Mr. ArifWibowo of the MoEF Indonesia and Mr. Ancha Srinivasan of the ADB. The speeches highlighted on the climate change risks in the Asia region which will be affecting millions of people live in various sectors. Addressing climate change issues and risks will require both adaptation and mitigation strategy integrated in the countries’ national development plan. The urgency is to raise the awareness of stakeholders, particularly policy makers, as well as encourage enabling environments such as policy supports, financing and collaborations within country, as well as trans-national cooperation, supported by scientific studies. Furthermore, it also requires strengthening communication, coordination and participation of community and other stakeholders. It is important for countries to learn from information and experiences sharing, to reflect these experiences in dealing with climate change issues and problems, in order to mainstream climate change in short-term and long-term development.
